In our communities, there are those special women who have helped us celebrate life. Perhaps they are mothers, sisters, daughters, friends or neighbors whose gifts of time have in turn made us better people. At McDonald’s, we know the importance of taking care of each other and making time for what matters most. Each year we celebrate those women in our lives every Mother’s Day by encouraging them to get regular exams and mammograms to detect breast cancer. Take care of yourself and all the women in your life.

• 96% of women who find and treat breast cancer early will be cancer-free after five years.

• Breast self-exams should be started by age 20 and done monthly.

• Early detection of breast cancer, through monthly breast self-exam and particularly yearly mammography after age 40, offers the best chance for survival.

• Clinical breast exams should be done by a doctor for women ages 20 to 39 at least every 3 years. At age 40, women should have an annual exam and a mammogram (x-ray picture of the breast).
